ÓSCAR ALONSO
Óscar Alonso holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, a Masters in Film and Television Production from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and completed the USC/Universal Studios Production and Directing Programme at the University of Southern California.
He has been working for most of his career at the international sales agency Latido Films, first managing Festivals (launch strategy for Juan José Campanella’s Oscar-winning El Secreto de sus Ojos ) and then as Head of Acquisitions, seeking a balance between more established filmmakers (Rodrigo Sorogoyen’sAs Bestas – Cannes Film Festival, Goya and César for Best Film) and discovering new talents (El Hoyo by Galder Gaztelu Urrutia – Toronto Film Festival Audience Award and most watched non-English language film on Netflix).
Since July 2024 he has been in charge of Distribution at LAZONA Pictures. Among the first titles released, he has been responsible for François Ozon’s When Autumn Falls ( Best Supporting Performance and Best Screenplay at the San Sebastian Film Festival).
He has been a member of the jury (mainly in industry sections) at festivals such as Berlin, Karlovy Vary and Cairo, a speaker at festivals such as Cannes, Rotterdam and Warsaw, a collaborator in feature film development programmes such as La Incubadora and First Cut Lab, and an expert for the ICAA and the MEDIA Programme, among others. He is a member of the European Film Academy.
