‘Madreed’ is a musical stroll through Madrid in the 20th century and so far in the 21st. A search for everything that defines, inspires or identifies Madrid. A Madrid seen not only as a physical but also as a mental conglomerate. Billy Joel composed that oft-covered song New York State Of Mind… If we delve into all those poets and musicians who speak of that state of mind that is also Madrid, perhaps we will find some clue or the reasons why this city dazzles or overwhelms us. The cuplé, the chotis, the revista, the zarzuela, pop music in its stylistic diversity, voices and poets who have written about the city… all of this will be treated with the particular musical vision of this artist and his quartet of first-rate musicians made up of piano, double bass, winds and percussion.
